49 Residents Join Together to Purchase Land

When Jim and Juliette George moved to Westminster at Lake Ridge (WLR) in 2020, they admired the serene wooded land at the community’s entrance. Soon, they learned the property was owned by a church across the street and was set to be sold to a developer for multi-unit apartments, despite being zoned for agriculture. As Finance Committee Chair, Jim followed the stalled negotiations and saw an opportunity when the developer backed out. WLR leadership and an ad hoc land committee proposed that residents help finance the purchase, and with contributions from 49 residents, the land was secured for WLR’s future growth.
