Rockville, Md. – Ingleside, a premier not-for-profit provider of comprehensive older adult services in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, announced that Ingleside President and CEO Lynn O’Connor will retire on May 7, 2027, what will then be a 47-year career in aging services leadership.

On August 2, 2010, we were three stand-alone non-profit communities and a Foundation. The Ingleside family has evolved to become a financially strong, integrated aging services system – thanks to the dedication of our Boards of Directors, teams, residents, and donors. The Ingleside family is well positioned for continued excellence and growth, ensuring that the Ingleside family and extended family thrive in perpetuity!”
O’Connor’s start in the aging services profession began in 1980 as an administrator in training at a Maryland nursing home and hospice; beginning her lifelong passion for serving others. Since then, her decorated career includes appointment by Governor Parris Glendening to the Maryland Assisted Living Task Force, Board leadership roles with LeadingAge NJ, Colorado, DC, the American Health Care Association, and the Presbyterian Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (PAHSA). She was also recognized in 2022 and 2026 as one of Maryland’s Most Admired CEOs by The Daily Record.
During O’Connor’s tenure, Ingleside grew and transformed. With the support of the Boards and committed team members, residents, and donors, Ingleside implemented major expansion initiatives across the organization, strengthened and expanded the impact of Westminster Ingleside Foundation, and established Ingleside as a non-profit corporate system serving multiple communities and affiliates, which has positioned the Ingleside family for long-term sustainability while expanding its ability to serve older adults throughout the region.
During this time, Ingleside cultivated a culture of acceptance, belonging, and excellence – reflected in the breadth of awards and accreditations Ingleside received. From CARF accreditation and SageCare Platinum certification to U.S. News & World Report recognition as a Best Nursing Home for both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation, Great Place to Work certification, LeadingAge Maryland’s Inclusive Excellence designation, and High Performer status in LGBTQ+ Long-Term Care Equality.
