At Ingleside, generosity takes many forms. It can mean helping a neighbor remain in the community they call home, supporting an employee as they finish their degree, or giving residents meaningful reasons to gather while learning something new.
That’s what Ingleside and Westminster Ingleside Foundation’s newly released 2025 Annual Report, “Where Generosity Lives,” is all about: the moments and the people who make generosity come to life. This report looks back on a year of meaningful progress, connection, and generosity across Ingleside’s Life Plan Communities, and gives credit where it’s due — to everyone in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and beyond who made it happen.
As Ingleside Board Chair Sally Cox and President and CEO Lynn O’Connor share in the report, “Generosity connects us, turns empathy into tangible support, and lives in donors, volunteers, residents, clients, team members, and community partners who bring these values to life through acts of giving.”
The Year in Numbers Across Ingleside’s Life Plan Communities
In 2025, the generosity of the Ingleside community added up to real support for residents, employees, and programs across Ingleside at Rock Creek, Westminster at Lake Ridge, and Ingleside at King Farm.
The year’s impact included:
- $3.9 million in gifts
- $1.1 million in endowment gifts
- $629,000 in resident assistance
- $590,000 raised through Signature Events and galas
- 685 total donors, including 76 first-time donors
- 303 donors who gave $1,000 or more
- 94 employee education awards
- 6 U.S. citizenship awards
- 3 new endowment funds launched
But those numbers only tell a portion of the story. Behind each highlight are people whose lives and communities have been strengthened through generosity.
As a result of the Ingleside community’s support of the Resident Supporting Fund, for example, seven residents who had outlived their financial resources were able to stay in the home they had chosen at Ingleside. Employees received support to pursue new educational and professional development opportunities. And philanthropic gifts helped expand arts, wellness, memory support, and other activities for seniors that shape daily life across Ingleside’s communities.
“We measure success not just in dollars raised, but in lives touched,” Westminster Ingleside Foundation Board Chair Peggy Cecchine and President and CEO Douglas C. Myers explain in the report. “Together, we are building a stronger, more vibrant community for all.”
Supporting Resident Engagement With the Launch of Memory Support Assisted Living
A major milestone detailed in the report and a brilliant example of generosity in action was the opening of Memory Support Assisted Living at Westminster at Lake Ridge in 2025 marked the fulfillment of a long-term vision to create a thoughtfully designed neighborhood where residents living with dementia or cognitive change can feel grounded, connected, and supported.
The newly renovated neighborhood gave a 30-year-old building new life, opening previously enclosed spaces to incorporate more natural light and using thoughtful color choices to help residents navigate their surroundings and identify their personal spaces. Donor support helped pay for the renovation, but it also funded therapeutic programming and resources for residents.
Amy Hewes, Director of Memory Support Programming, sees creative arts and music therapy as some of the most powerful tools she has for connection: “You see the benefit in the moment. Even if somebody might not remember the session later, the feeling is still there. They still feel uplifted, connected, and fulfilled.”
The Memory Support Fund also supports the Sentimental Journey Singers program, which pairs residents experiencing cognitive change with volunteer singing partners. Friendships form, and many keep visiting each other outside rehearsals.
This highlight and the others in the report show what its numbers represent: investments in people, relationships, and experiences that help residents keep living with dignity, purpose, and joy.
