Pickleball: A Game Changer
Pickleball at Westminster at Lake Ridge took a major leap forward in 2025, transforming a popular pastime into a vibrant, multi-use outdoor destination. Thanks to the generosity and passion of resident and donor Bill Spengler, the courts were thoughtfully upgraded to support year-round play, wellness, and community engagement.
A dedicated player and advocate for active living, Bill regularly offers pickleball lessons to both residents and staff, welcoming beginners and experienced players alike. “I had the privilege of introducing this game to WLR in 2007, and it’s been a real joy ever since,” Bill shared.
The improvements addressed both function and experience, including a new drainage system, additional asphalt, full resurfacing, and fresh pickleball-blue paint. The surrounding area was also reimagined with seating, shade, and gathering spaces, along with infrastructure upgrades that make the courts more accessible for daily use and programming.
This upgraded pickleball complex reflects how donor support directly enriches daily life at Westminster at Lake Ridge.
