For over two decades, the Westminster Ingleside Foundation has enriched Ingleside communities—Ingleside at Rock Creek, Westminster at Lake Ridge, and Ingleside at King Farm—through enhanced programs, financial support, and services.
This past year marked the 25th Anniversary of Westminster Ingleside Foundation, which has dramatically expanded its positive impact to those who live and work at Ingleside.
The Foundation has long supported Ingleside residents who may have outlived their resources, while also providing Ingleside staff and employees with opportunities to further their education through training programs, financial scholarships, and citizenship awards. Over the past five years, the Foundation has been able to expand it’s impact by funding innovative resident programming and capital projects enhancing resident life at each campus.
Investment into the Next Generation of Care Professionals
The Westminster Ingleside Foundation has consistently supported the growth and development of Ingleside’s employees. The Foundation has provided over half a million dollars in scholarships, training, and citizenship assistance, ensuring employees have the resources for career growth and professional development.
“In 2015 we had our first endowment gift of $250,000 and that was to establish a professional development fund at Westminster at Lake Ridge,” said Doug Myers, President and CEO of Westminster Ingleside Foundation. “This year, we now have seven endowment funds with over $5 million to provide perpetual support to support Ingleside’s Mission across each Ingleside community. Today, the foundation’s assets are over $34 million and as we continue to grow, those funds will help us to have a greater impact across all of Ingleside.”
Through the Kreider Professional Development Fund, for example, an endowment fund established in 2015 by Westminster at Lake Ridge Residents Larry and Glea Kreider, over 160 awards and more than $200,000 has been granted in support of training and retaining skilled staff members.
“I successfully applied and qualified for the Kreider Professional Development Fund and was fortunate enough to enroll in an online BSN program,” said Foster Frempong, an Ingleside employee and recipient of the award. “After years working as a full-time LPN, I knew it was time to further my education and knowledge in nursing. With the help of the award, I completed the program with distinction and graduated on June 30, 2024.”
Similar to Foster, many other Ingleside employees have leveraged financial assistance from the Foundation to advance their education, obtain professional certifications, or receive financial support in their pursuit of U.S. citizenship.
Ensuring Resident Welfare, Ongoing Resources and Innovative Programs
Through its resident supporting funds, the Foundation has been a vital resource in assuring that no resident has ever been asked to leave Ingleside due to financial hardship through no fault of their own.
While the impact is extensive, some of the projects funded recently by the Foundation include:
- In 2024, seven residents received confidential financial support through the Resident Supporting Fund. This vital program ensures that no residents are asked to leave Ingleside due to financial hardship that is no fault of their own, and helps to cover the cost of living expenses and medical necessities.
- Financial gifts granted to the Cultural Arts Funds have brought in world-renowned performances.
- Gifts by Westminster at Lake Ridge Residents are helping fund the purchase of land adjacent to the campus allowing for an expansion of residential living.
- The healthcare center received a grant for the installation hand-wave accessible doors and
hearing loop technology. - A new employee breakroom was renovated and opened at Ingleside at Rock Creek, enhancing the day-to-day lives and experience of employees at the campus.
- Inspired by the care his father was receiving, a donor made a gift that brought innovative technology to Memory Support Assisted Living. The “Magic Table”, is an interactive touch-screen game device developed for and with people living with cognitive decline.
- Ingleside at King Farm’s courtyards received enhanced perennial plantings and a new outdoor American flag thanks to gifts made to the Landscaping Fund.
- The installation of new track lighting in our resident art galleries elevated the talents of Ingleside residents allowing them to better share their love for art with Ingleside community visitors and other residents.
- The outdoor porches in Memory Support Assisted Living received vibrant new artwork and the installation of heaters, allowing the space to be enjoyed by residents and families year-round.
Gifts to the Westminster Ingleside Foundation fuel a brighter future for the Life Plan Communities of Ingleside at Rock Creek, Westminster at Lake Ridge, and Ingleside at King Farm. The generosity of gifts to the Foundation uplift residents in need, enrich lives, and strengthen the Ingleside communities for generations to come.
