WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ingleside, a leading provider of comprehensive senior living services in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, received national recognition in the 2024 McKnight’s Tech Awards for improving dining technology accessibility through the FullCount Resident Portal.
This award-winning project, which earned the silver medal in the competition’s Quality category, was the result of a partnership between Ingleside and Indiana University. UX Research and Design Fellow, Radhika Bezawada guided by Liz Keller, Ingleside’s Resident Technology Engagement Manager conducted in-depth research on ways to improve FullCount’s resident-facing software, a tool used by Ingleside residents to place dining orders, check account balances, and request reservations. Ingleside community residents were pivotal in the analysis and usability testing process, helping to uncover off-platform challenges that paved the way for enhancements and new feature suggestions.
“Ingleside and its communities have continued to embrace innovative ways to improve the quality of care and services for residents through advanced technology,” said Dusanka Delovska-Trajkova, Ingleside’s Chief Information Officer. “Through this project, we were able to expose graduate students to the unique world of senior living and bring the needs of aging adults to the forefront of user experience development. We’re proud of the results and for achieving improved accessibility and resident satisfaction.”
Recognizing healthcare organizations that have effectively utilized technology to enhance care and operations within their facilities, the McKnight’s Tech Awards honors organizations that are revolutionizing the industry within three divisions: Senior Living, Skilled Nursing, and Home Care. Each division for this competition was divided into four categories: Quality, Innovator of the Year, Keep It Super Simple, and Building Bridges.
“Ingleside’s recognition in the McKnight’s Tech Awards three years running is a testament to Ingleside’s unwavering commitment and digital transformation investment to enhance the lives of its residents, employees, and to optimize operational excellence,” said Lynn O’Connor, Ingleside’s President and CEO. “As an organization dedicated to providing exceptional senior living services, Ingleside will continue to explore innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our communities.”
Nominations for McKnight’s Tech Awards were judged by a distinguished panel of 21 long-term care stakeholders and industry experts. Evaluations were reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Quality: Entries should describe the technology involved and how it was applied to improve the quality of care or services.
- Innovator of the Year: Entries should describe how technological innovation was key to an entry’s success and how it made a difference to the provision of care and/or services and/or the bottom line.
- Keep It Super Simple: Entries should describe a simple but effective application of technology that improves the provision of care and/or services and/or operations.
- Building Bridges: Entries should describe the ways in which an operator is using technology to improve connections between staff members, other care providers, or residents and/or their families.
This prestigious awards program celebrates the transformative impact of technology in the healthcare landscape and is a joint production of industry-leading journals McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living, and McKnight’s Home Care. Ingleside was honored for its award-winning enhancement of the FullCount Resident Portal, which enhanced the dining user experience and accessibility for residents across its communities.
